Nominations are due no later than March 31, 2010.
The Maine Governor's Council on Physical Activity is
currently accepting nominations for its 12th annual
Maine Fitness Awards.
These awards recognize Maine
people for their involvement in promoting physical
activity and offers the opportunity for organizations,
businesses, schools, civic groups, and individuals to
feature their accomplishments in physical activity.
Nominations will be accepted in the following
categories:
- Youth (both school and community)
- Special Populations
- Community Organizations
- Healthy Workplace (small, medium, and large)
- Lifetime Achievement
An award celebration honoring winners and nominees, will be held on Tuesday, April
27, 2010, at 10:30 am at the State House Hall of Flags.
Scoring: Nominees need a minimum of 15
points or higher to be considered for the award.
Nominees can earn up to five points in each of the
following categories:
- Health Education (health risk assessments,
biometrics, educational sessions, stress management)
- Nutrition (weight control)
- Physical Activity
- Number of Participants reached (creativity)
- Evaluation/Measurement (change over time)
Programs/individuals who won this award last year are
not eligible to be nominated again this year (see list
below). Local health fairs and programs containing
only a nutrition component are also not eligible.
